DIGITAL PRINTING IS THE FASTEST GROWING SEGMENT OF THE PRINT WORLD. TO GIVE DESIGNERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE THEIR DESIGN FOR DIGITAL PRINTING, AND TO BECOME BETTER ACQUAINTED WITH THE TECHNOLOGY, THE EDITORS ARE INTRODUCING THE 2ND ANNUAL DIGITAL PRINT COVER CONTEST. IT IS PRESENTED BY GDUSA, AND SPONSORED BY KODAK AND THE Kodak NexPress FIFTH IMAGING UNIT SOLUTIONS.

WHAT IS THE GOAL?
The goal is to design a printed insert that will double as GDUSA's September 2011 magazine cover. The judges, selected by GDUSA, will choose a winner based on overall visual appearance, effective use and integration of one of the Kodak NexPress Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions: Dimensional, Red Fluorescing, Gloss, Watermark, Clear Coat, or Spot Gloss. WHAT DO I WIN?
The winning design will be printed by Kodak and appear as a cover tip with the September 2011 edition of GDUSA Magazine. Additionally, the winning piece will be featured in various promotional and publicity materials in print and online. The winner will also be offered an expense paid trip (hotel and airfare) to Chicago as a guest of Kodak to visit this fall's Graph Expo trade show and participate in the Kodak exhibition as a featured guest in the K-Zone. The top ten winners will be featured on the Kodak website and samples of their work will be shared as global samples at Kodak international tradeshows.
 
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
All graphic designers, art directors, and other creative professionals at graphic design firms, ad agencies, corporate and institutional design departments, publishers and printers, and other creative businesses. Groups and teams are welcome, as are currently enrolled graphic design students.
 
Kodak and GDUSA employees and immediate family members are not eligible for participation in the contest.
 
HOW DO I ENTER?
First, you must provide us with basic personal information by filling out the entry form. Be sure to write your name, company and contact information clearly and legibly.
 
Second, download a PDF template of the GDUSA cover to give you the parameters within which you may design. You must take into account placement of the logo and date.
 
Third, after you have completed your design, either mail or email the completed PDF or file, or a printout of the cover, back to GDUSA. This should be a reduced sized file, 1 MB, for judging. The winner(s) will later be asked to submit a high res file for actual printing. The entry form must accompany the design entry.

RIGHTS AND PERMISSIONS
Winning entrants grant Graphic Design USA and Kodak the right to reproduce and include the winning piece(s) in the September 2011 edition of the magazine. In addition, Graphic Design USA and Kodak are granted the right to reproduce the winning piece for, or have it appear in, promotional and publicity purposes in any and all materials and media including, but not limited to, press releases and stories, advertisements and advertorials, trade shows and exhibitions, reprints and overprints, sales materials and brochures, websites and enewsletters.
