SPECIAL REPORT ON PICTUREHOUSE CHICAGO
PUBLISHERS NOTE: REAL COMMUNICATION
Over the years, I have come to dislike large trade shows, with
the noisy and crowded floors, the fluorescent lighting and anonymous
exhibition halls, the rushed and impersonal meetings. On the other
hand, I have come to love Picturehouse events, small and intimate
gatherings in stylish venues across the country, where image buyers
and sellers exchange information in settings conducive to real
communication. Picturehouse comes to Chicago in a couple of weeks,
and GDUSA readers who buy and use imagery in their work are
enthusiastically invited to register and attend for free. More
information about Picturehouse Chicago — and an
information-packed free copyright seminar that comes as part
of the free registration — follows. Or save time by simply
going to the link right under my name to register right now. I
hope you enjoy this unique gathering as much as I do.

ELEGANT AND INSPIRING VENUE
This year, Picturehouse returns to the River East Art
Center, an elegantly designed and inspiring venue located
in the city’s artistic and cultural hub. The contemporary
two-story lofted space has stunning water views, soaring
ceilings and a 60-foot-wide illuminated Venetian water
wall. Lots of light, comfortable flow, and a great
location. It’s the perfect setting conducive to
the creative thinking and easy give-and-take that gives
Picturehouse Chicago its special feel.
NEW! FREE COPYRIGHT SEMINAR
New this year is a free morning seminar sponsored by
the Picture Archive Council of America (PACA) with noted
attorney and author Nancy Wolff. Nancy’s valuable
lecture, “Copyright/Copywrong in Image Licensing,”
will be of great interest to those who use and license
visual content. A leading authority, Nancy examines actual
case studies and explains complex issues in understandable
terms. She also provides insights into the Digital
Millennium Copyright Act and discusses new developments
with fair use, orphan works, infringements and
protections. It’s packed with just the kind of
information you want to know and need to know.
THE AMBIANCE IS LEGENDARY
Picturehouse Chicago is known for its social gathering
ambiance and hospitality, which encourages a relaxed
atmosphere and provides a great opportunity for you to
network with friends, colleagues and visual suppliers. This
includes quality food and beverages, with complimentary
beer and wine served after 5:00 pm. Prizes and special
gift drawings add to the day’s excitement and
entertaining atmosphere.

designers, art directors and other creative
