LORI YI

New York NY: Lori Yi is a new principal at d/g* Digital Branding. She is a multidisciplinary designer with a background in advertising, retail, corporate identity and packaging. Since joining the firm, she has worked on programs for IBM, Coca-Cola, Reebok and Victoria's Secret. Prior to d/g*, she was at Landor Associates where she focused on package design for Johnson & Johnson, Hanes, and Pepsi, among others. d/g* is one of the largest image and brand creation firms and it recently reorganized itself into four divisions: Retail Architecture, Technology and Design, Consulting, and Creative Design.

 


 

STEVE NIEMCZURA

Boulder CO: Volan Design LLC hires Steve Niemczura as senior graphic designer. He brings many years of art direction and design expertise, most recently at Experimental Applied Sciences in Golden, Colorado, where he developed product branding, packaging and magazine design layout. Niemczura graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art and has served on the Art Directors Club board of directors.

 


 

KORUSRENéE KORUS

New York NY: Renée Korus joins the advertising agency Ellenson Group as creative director. In the past she has held senior creative positions at Earle Palmer Brown in Philadelphia and most recently was a co-creative director at Goose where clients included Comcast and Calico Corners. She has also worked on projects for Procter & Gamble and Seagram's. Korus is a graduate of Cornell University with a major in advertising and graphic design.

 


 

STONEJILL STONE, BRIAN KEMERLEY

Philadelphia PA: Signature Communications recruits two new members for their creative team, Jill Stone and Brian Kemerley. As they take on their new duties as senior art director and art director, respectively, both will be focusing on concept development, design, and art direction. They come to Signature Communications with many years of experience in design. Jill Stone holds a BA in Art, with a specialization in illustration, from The University of the Arts; Brian Kemerley graduated with a BFA degree in Graphic Design from The College of New Jersey.

 


 

CHURCHWARREN A. CHURCH

Cincinnati OH: Noted designer and consultant Warren Church moves to Deskey Associates, where his main responsibilities include guiding and coordinating a wide variety of strategic design development programs for the company's diverse clients located worldwide. Church has operated his own company, Barking Dog Design, where his clients included Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, IBM and Lotus. Deskey was founded in 1929.

 


 

BOB KNOLL, BRUCE ECKOLS

Portland OR: Bob Knoll, president of the Portland-based KnollGROUP, has retired at the age of 60, completing a 36-year career in business, the past 24 with the agency. Throughout his career, Knoll has served on a number of industry and community commitees and boards, including Portland Youth Philharmonic, the American Advertising Museum, the Portland Association of Advertising Agencies and Portland Rotary Club. Creative director Bruce Eckols, who has been with the agency for 20 years, joins a triumvirate with public relations director Timm Locke and account service director Jane Baker to increase their ownership. This is the firm's fourth generation of management.

 


 

BRAD REDWINE

Oklahoma City OK: Smith and Associates Advertising adds Brad Redwine to the design staff as an art director. Redwine was formerly a graphic designer for The Summit Group in San Antonio, where he created collateral and promotional pieces for financial industry clients. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University.

 


 

CATLINLAURA-ANNE CATLIN

Boston MA: Laura-Anne Catlin is now handling art direction at Orsatti & Partners. Catlin is working on a variety of agency accounts. Prior to moving over to Orsatti & Partners, she was an art director at Wickersham Hunt Schwantner, Boston. She also worked as a freelance designer in Southern Maine. Catlin is a graduate of Wheaton College and Massachusetts College of Art. Current Orsatti clients include Be Free, Kabloom, and OneCore.com.

Madison WI: Welch Design Group welcomes Krista Ceniti as graphic designer and web designer. Ceniti is a graduate of the Madison Area Technical College commercial art program. The firm specializes in marketing materials and corporate identity work.

 


 

SCHUMAKERDIANN SHUMAKER, CHRISTOPHER SCHOESSEL

St. Louis MO: Falk Harrison Creative grows its numbers with two new hires: Diann Shumaker and Christopher Schoessel. Shumaker fills the position of art director. She joins the firm from Musak in Seattle, Washington, where she also served as art director. She is a graduate of Wilmington College of Ohio. Schoessel leaves behind Xplane Corporation in St. Louis to join the firm's web group, Beyond Ink, as the new media project manager. He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University where he earned a BS degree in advertising. Falk Harrison is a leading regional marketing communications and graphic design firm.

Boston MA: Stewart Monderer Design welcomes Jeffrey Gobin as a creative director and Jason C.K. Miller as senior designer to their corporate design studio. Prior to holding these new positions, Gobin was a senior designer at Taylor & Ives in New York City; Miller was art director at Designworks in Syracuse, NY.

 


 

MIKE OWENS, KRISTI WEBER

Louisville KY: The DeLor Group promotes Mike Owens. After 11 years with the firm, he takes on the new post of design director. His accomplishments include producing award-winning work for Eli Lilly and Company, Alliant Health Systems, Humana Inc., Akzo Nobel and Specialties Graphic Finishers. The firm also appointed Kristi Weber as design coordinator.

 


 

NATALIE KRUG

Madison WI: Reed Sendecke invites Natalie Krug to join their design staff. Her responsibilities include creative development and production of advertising and marketing materials. Krug's credits include work as an art director for Adams Outdoor Advertising. She is a graduate of UW-Whitewater.

 


 

FRANCIS SUMNER MERRITT

Deer Isle ME: Haystack Mountain School of Crafts mourns the loss of their founding director. Francis Sumner Merritt died in Belfast, Maine, on December 27, 2000 at the age of 87. Known for his innovative approach to education, Merritt pioneered international sessions at the celebrated craft school that he guided for over twenty-five years.

 


 

VANDINEAMI VAN DINE, VICKI MELONEY, BRYON LOMAS

Plymouth Meeting PA: Bailey Design Group has added a number of new designers. Newly appointed to the Philadelphia area firm are Ami Van Dine, who was previously with Gerstman & Meyers in New York, Vicki Meloney, formerly with Monroe Design, and Bryon Lomas, who moves across the country from Ph.D. in Santa Monica. This brings the firm's staff to over forty.

Farmington CT: Keiler & Company adds Jessica Lorenz as an assistant designer. She is working on projects for General Cologne Re and St. Vincent's Hospital. Previously, she was a freelance designer for the Hartford Courant newspaper. Keiler & Company has current billings of $65 million and 85 employees.

 


 

PLYMPTONMATTHEW PLYMPTON

San Francisco CA: Matthew Plympton powers up the design department at Landkamer Partners. As the firm's newest production manager/designer, Plympton is responsible for design refinement as well as managing the final art on all projects. Prior to joining Landkamer Partners, he was a freelance designer/production specialist working with clients such as Old Navy, Osborne/McGraw-Hill, First Card Bank and Harley-Davidson.

 


 

DAVISDICK DAVIS, DOUG GORANSSON

Boston MA: Gearon Hoffman names Dick Davis and Doug Goransson creative directors. Prior to joining the agency in 1999, the pair were principals of Davis & Goransson. Goransson's client experience includes Timberland, Sam Adams, McDonald's, Keds, and Charles Schwab. Davis has worked with clients such as Stanley, Titleist, BankBoston, and Digital at Arnold Worldwide, HBM/Creamer, Welch Currier Curry, and Altman & Manley. Gearon Hoffman, with nearly $70 million in billings, currently serves a roster of clients which includes Grolsch Beer, Seagram, Brown & Company discount brokerage division of Chase, and Boston Museum of Science.

Boston MA: Arnold Worldwide brings Emily Till on board as creative coordinator. She works in the creative department assisting the creative directors. Till is a graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. Arnold Worldwide serves leading global, national and regional marketers such as Volkswagen of North America, McDonald's, American Legacy Foundation, Alcatel, Monster.com, Talbots, Titleist, Exxon Mobil and EMC.

 


 

STACEY BALDWIN

Minneapolis MN: Stacey Baldwin is a new traffic coordinator at Hedstrom/Blessing, responsible for ensuring efficient project workflow throughout the firm. She was previously with General Mills, where she served in the same role for four years. Her degree: communications from St. Paul's Concordia College.

 


 

MILLIE HANSON

Minneapolis MN: Millie Hanson's primary role as a new designer at GeigerBevolo is to manage projects from concept through delivery and to spearhead an expansion of interactive services. "We've always been able to offer interactive design by combining... our design experience with outsourced production and programming. Now... Millie gives us substantial interactive design experience inhouse." Scott Geiger and Chris Bevolo are the founders.

 


 

THELENBOB THELEN, EMILY VENTER, RICK CONNER

Cincinnati OH: Libby Perszyk Kathman bolsters its team with the promotion of Rick Conner and two new hires: Emily Venter and Bob Thelen. As production director, Thelen brings with him an extensive background in graphic arts. As part of LPK's production services department, he manages packaging production for Pringles, Folgers and Tampax brands. Venter, a designer, has as her primary focus the development of marketing communication materials. And as design director, Conner retains single point accountability for print design activity for a variety of Procter & Gamble brands. LPK has developed and managed brand identity franchises for some of the world's most successful brands including Microsoft, IBM, Pantene, Pampers, Olay, 9-Lives, Valvoline, Nerf and Hallmark.

 


 

WINESKIJULIE WINESKI

Chicago IL: MLR Design hires Julie Wineski as an associate designer. Wineski had worked with the firm as an independent graphic designer prior to accepting the permanent position. Client projects she has worked on include Alberto Culver, Bausch & Lomb, Casio, Kimberly-Clark, Malt-O-Meal, NBC, The New York Times Company, Triarc Beverage Group and Reebok. Wineski is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.

 


 

CAROL BELLANDI, BILL FELDMAN

San Francisco CA: In a move to strengthen key management, Enterprise IG ups two: Carol Bellandi to president and ceo, and Bill Feldman to chief operating officer. As president and ceo, Bellandi is expected to bring new visions and strategies into the business through innovative methodologies, initiatives, strategic branding practices and international experience. She is also involved in the ongoing initiative to develop and manage client businesses that reside in the Americas. Feldman's activities are centered on the operations of all human resources, compensation, IT, and administrative systems. He joined the company in 1990 and has held the titles of finance director and chief financial officer. Bellandi joined a year ago as global marketing director.

 


 

JOSEPH TARTAGLIA

Princeton NJ: Joseph Tartaglia joins Zullo Associates as art director. His responsibilities include advertising, packaging and collateral design. Tartaglia was most recently an art director at CGI Dezine, and before that he held the title of senior art director at CMA, Creative Marketing Alliance. He holds a BFA degree from The College of New Jersey.

 


 

ROBERT RAINWATER

Phoenix AZ: Subia Creative, an advertising and interactive design firm, names Robert Rainwater as director of creative services. Most recently, Rainwater operated his own design firm in Flagstaff and before that in Phoenix. He has also been an associate creative director at Foote, Cone and Belding Advertising and is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. In his new post, Rainwater will direct and manage print collateral, advertising, corporate image creation, and direct mail projects.

 


 

BURCHMATT BURCH, ANDY KROENING

Racine WI: Matt Burch is involved in brand development and package design for consumer products at Design North. The new designer has had experience at The Pleasant Company, Campbell LaCoste Advertising and Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance. Burch is joined by Andy Kroening who comes from the Braun Creative Group and is working on print and packaging assignments for Design North clients.

 


 

GAINJOEL R. GAIN

St. Louis MO: Joel R. Gain moves to AKA Design with a graphic designer title. He has a BA in Graphic Design from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and was a graphic designer for Progressive Impressions International marketing agency. Gain's duties include graphic and web design projects.

 


 

COLLIN SCHNEIDER

Madison WI: Wisconsin's Gunter Advertising, with two Wisconsin offices in Madison and in the Quad Cities, adds Collin Schneider as a new media designer. He was a senior graphic designer for Aero Computing, Ltd. and a technical assistant and senior application developer at InterClay Software. Schneider has experience with networking and web server technologies, print, interactive, video/audio design, database development and internet design.

 


 

WENDI HUNT

Middletown CT: Production manager Wendi Hunt comes aboard Riley and Company. She was most recently in a production post at Mason and Madison. The Riley agency has offices in Middletown, CT, and El Granada, CA.

 


 

JOSEPH MERCATANTE

Philadelphia PA: Former University of Pennsylvania publication designer Joseph Mercatante links up with Debra Malinics Advertising. Mercatante has his BS in graphic design from Drexel University. He joins an agency that was founded back in 1976 and specializes in corporate identity, healthcare, strategic marketing and communications.

 


 

NICK STEWART, FRANK DOMINGUEZ, MIKE CLARKE

Alhambra CA: Eatek Marketing Group promotes two and hires one. Nick Stewart, chief art director and designer, is raised to company director and Frank Dominguez, who headed west coast promotions, becomes the overall director of promotions. Mike Clarke, Eatek's most recent addition, heads the web site development department. The group handles design and marketing jobs for various media, entertainment, and industrial companies in the Los Angeles and New York areas.

 


 

SCOTT DZIAK, JEFF SPENCER

Cleveland OH: Arras Group names both Scott Dziak and Jeff Spencer to the position of senior art director. As leaders they use their extensive experience, creativity and effectiveness to direct the creative efforts on several key Arras accounts. Throughout his five years with the firm, Dziak has continued to advance his position, moving from graphic artist to art director and now to this new position. Spencer started at Arras in 1996, primarily working on the Yokohama Tire account. In the past, he has also been the art director on the Glidden web site, and he led the way to the success of its Color@Home Color Visualization CD-ROM.

 


 

DAVID BAKER

Dayton OH: David K. Burnap Agency recruits internet services consultant David Baker to manage its electronic marketing division. In his new role, Baker oversees day-to-day management of the firm, including both creative and technical staff, and works closely with agency management to bring in new business and to ensure service for existing clients. Prior to joining the firm, Baker was a senior consultant at CSC, where he led the technical and creative teams in the development of comprehensive recommendations for Fortune 500 clients. His markets included financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and the pharmaceutical industry.

 


 

ANDREA DAY

Atlanta GA: Georgia-Pacific appoints Andrea Day to the post of senior projects manager for digital papers. This position entails coordinating Georgia-Pacific's strategy for developing digital printing markets as well as working with equipment manufacturers to optimize digital imaging performance. Additionally, she is expected to play an instrumental role in developing new paper products that accommodate a variety of end-user applications. Day joins the firm from a 20-year career with International Paper and was most recently the director of business technology development-digital initiative. As a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, Day holds a bachelor of science degree in Pulp and Paper Science.

 


 

AMY BRADDOCK, YOUN PARK

Boston MA: Amy Braddock comes to Hull Creative Group from Allyn & Bacon where she conceptualized, designed and wrote copy for a variety of collateral materials. Prior to Allyn & Bacon, she was employed as an editorial assistant at the Massachusetts Department of Health, Recreation and Physical Education, where she edited and prepared manuscripts for production. A graduate of Connecticut College, she has won a number of graphic design awards including the Jane Bill Prize for Excellence in Art. Also joining Hull is Youn Park, a graduate with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design. Youn brings a traditional graphic design background as well as multimedia skills such as video and sound editing and web design.

 


 

CRAIG MANAHAN

Cleveland OH: Arras Group ups Craig Manahan to associate creative director for the automotive division. He oversees creative production and ensures continuity in all automotive-related projects. Manahan currently works on firm activities for Yokohama Tire Corporation, Mueller Dealer Tire, Panoz Automotive Development and others. His previous experience includes projects for Goodyear Product Groups, Parker Hannifin, Parker Aerospace, Invacare Corporation, Moen and Mr. Coffee. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

 


 

LOUIS D'ESPOSITO

Thousand Oaks CA: Veteran graphic designer Louis D'Esposito brings his portfolio and creative expertise to McNulty & Co. D'Esposito has been an accomplished member of the Southern California design community for over 11 years. At McNulty & Co., he is a creative director. Over the course of his career, D'Esposito has received awards for the design of annual reports and corporate identity programs, and has worked on projects for companies such as Unocal, Countrywide Credit, eToys, and Universal Studios.

 


 

BYRON HOLLY

Laurel MD: Byron Holly is a production artist/technical specialist at Dever Designs. He has a design degree from Morgan State University and brings seven years of design, production and printing experience to the post. He is assisting clients such as the Carnegie Corporation, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and AmericanStyle.

 


 

LESLIE JONAS

Cambridge MA: Leslie Jonas joins Barrett Communications as a senior designer. Her past experience includes a number of years with Sasaki Associates and a stint with the Boston Ballet. In her new post, she supervises design and production for technology, educational, and professional services clients. Jonas is a graduate of Brown University's fine arts program and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design.

 


 

LONNY MATSUDA, CINDI POCHATEK, DAVE BULL, CHRISTIAN LUIS

Portland ME: Via welcomes four new members to the design team: Lonny Matsuda, Cindi Pochatek, Dave Bull, and Christian Luis. Matsuda and Bull are directors of design, while Pochatek is associate design director, and Luis is a new senior web designer. Via clients include Asea Brown Boveri, Fairchild Semiconductor, MONY, eSprocket.com, Gofish.com, Jumpsource.com, RSN, and Sugarloaf/USA, among others. They are headquartered in Maine but they also have studios in New York, where Luis is posted, San Francisco, and Columbus, Ohio, where Bull is assigned.

 


 

LUKE SIEKMEIER

Watertown MA: Sullivan Creative's growing staff now includes Luke Siekmeier as a graphic designer. He is working on advertising, direct mail, collateral and web sites. He had been lead designer for an interactive video production company, producing web-ready graphics for internet and intranet applications for the likes of Unilever, Harvard Business School, Pfizer and PricewaterhouseCoopers. In his deeper past, he was a legislative intern and state agency liaison at the Colorado State House.

 


 

JASON BROWN

Madison WI: Previously a graphic designer for Northland Cranberries, Jason Brown is now an assistant art director at the Waldbillig & Besteman ad agency. He has a BFA in Graphic Communications and Fine Arts Photography from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He has also worked for Creative Management and Marketing Resources in Oshkosh.

 


 

PAUL FRYE, AMY FOSTER

Canton OH: The 26-person Innis Maggiore Group brings aboard Paul Frye and Amy Foster as graphic designers. Frye held the same title at Costello Nardecchia Advertising in Columbus, and was a design coordinator at RMD Advertising before that. Foster's title was also graphic designer at her former employer, Caler & Company. The ad agency has capitalized billings of more than $12.5 million.

 


 

NICOLE MATT, DANIEL JONES, AMY MAGIERSKI

Rochester NY: Catalyst Direct, a direct marketing agency, raises Daniel Jones and Amy Magierski to higher creative posts and hires Nicole Matt as a production manager. Jones, a senior art director, is now a creative supervisor overseeing creative teams assigned to the Eastman Kodak Digital and Applied Imaging Division. Magierski had been a junior art director; she is now a full art director supporting key accounts such as Bank of America, Chase, and AmeriCredit. Matt is responsible for buying and managing print and direct mail production for The Associates account.

 


 

KRISTIN JOHNSON

Los Angeles CA: Award-winning digital artist Kristin Johnson has joined Radium, announced creative director/principal Jonathan Keeton of the effects/design/CG animation studio. Johnson was previously a digital artist with Post Logic Studios where her clients included BBDO, FCB and DDB Chicago. She has won a number of broadcast design and advertising awards including several Clios.
