Robert Fucinato ROBERT C. FUCINATO

Plymouth Meeting PA: Robert C. Fucinato joins Bailey Design Group as a group design director. In this role, he manages two design teams that work on brand identity and packaging projects for a number of national and international consumer, business-to-business and service clients. Fucinato comes to the firm from Libby Perszyk Kathman where he was design director, managing projects for Procter & Gamble, Heinz, Sunbeam, Coleman and other leading global brands. He holds a BFA from the University of Buffalo. His work has been recognized by numerous professional organizations.

 


 

Nancy Mazzei NANCY MAZZEI

New York NY: Global entertainment marketing communications company Pittard Sullivan names Nancy Mazzei creative director. In her new post, Mazzei is involved in the process of branding and designing integrated media. Before joining the firm in 2000 as senior art director in the Print Group, she worked as a director on various high profile projects such as two Port Authority Billboard Wraps, "Break-on-Through" summer branding campaign, and many A-list theatrical key art projects including "Lolita," "More Tales of the City," "Rated X," and "In the 20th Century." Mazzei started as a freelancer for ShowTime Networks in 1997, and was quickly named creative director for the company. She has been recognized at the 22nd BDA Awards for winning two Gold Awards for her ShowTime Network packaging for the Total Recall mailing tube, and for their holiday gift box.

 


 

Jeffery Fairchild JEFFERY T. FAIRCHILD

Sun Prairie WI: CTI Paper USA welcomes Jeffery T. Fairchild as the newest member of its expanding organization. Fulfilling the position of sales and promotion manager, Fairchild focuses on driving The Fine Paper Collection, a collection of unique specifier papers, into the graphic design and print communities.

 


 

Jennifer Czarnecki JENNIFER CZARNECKI

Troy MI: Quell Communications adds Jennifer Czarnecki to the creative team as associate graphic designer. Most recently, Czarnecki was a freelance designer with Frank's Nursery & Crafts. In that capacity, she was responsible for seasonal, informational, price/item signs and banners. She also designed logos for company brand packaging and programs for Pine Knob and Meadowbrook Music theatres. Czarnecki is a graduate of the Center for Creative Studies College of Art and Design. Quell Communications Group specializes in the development and implementation of strategic communications, marketing and public relations programs for clients in a variety of industries.

 


 

Kevin Johnson KEVIN JOHNSON

Houston TX: Savage Design Group welcomes Kevin Johnson. Prior to receiving this new position as senior developer and technology manager, Johnson was lead senior cold fusion developer with 1 Global City.com. Johnson has an extensive background in programming and has developed over 100 auto dealership sites, as well as numerous real estate sites. "By educating our people on the latest technology," says Johnson, "Savage Design will continue to be competitive in this ever-growing and changing field." Founded in 1973, the firm creates communication programs for corporate clients and organizations including print and new media solutions, from corporate branding and identity programs, annual reports and marketing collateral, to internet and intranet sites, CD-ROMs and interactive presentations.

 


 

Gail McCarthy GAIL MCCARTHY

Providence RI : Dodge Associates, a full-service advertising agency, appoints Gail McCarthy to the position of art director. In this capacity, McCarthy handles design and production services for a number of the agency's consumer and business-to-business accounts. Prior to joining the agency, McCarthy was director of the Visual Communications Program at Katharine Gibbs School. She also served as a creative services manager/Latin America and as senior graphic designer/team leader for American Power Conversion. A member of the American Institute of Graphic Artists and the Creative Communications Club of Providence, McCarthy holds a bachelor's degree in studio art from Rhode Island College and an MBA from Bryant College.

 


 

Art Hasinski MIKE MCFERREN, ART HASINSKI, JOHN HARTZ

Cincinnati OH: Libby Perszyk Kathman ups three: Mike McFerren, Art Hasinski, and John Hartz. McFerren, a new design director, previously served the firm as designer and senior designer. He, along with Hasinski who has also been promoted to design director, are responsible for the management of a variety of global print projects. Hasinski came to LPK from Freedman, Gibson & White and has worked on printed materials on a variety of consumer brands. As associate account executive Hartz is responsible for the management of consumer accounts for brands such as Hallmark, NCR, and Elmer's.

 


 

ANTHONY SHORE

San Francisco CA: Anthony Shore rises to the position of creative director, verbal branding & naming at Landor San Francisco. Shore joined the company as naming manager in 1996, bringing with him a cross-discipline perspective of linguistics, naming, brand strategy and design to Landor's Verbal Branding & Naming practice. While with the company he has helped lead successful programs for Andersen Consulting, Compaq, FedEx, Microsoft, Symantec and Frito-Lay.

 


 

Dan Arnold DAN ARNOLD

Minneapolis MN: Did the cold at the North Pole have an odd effect on Dan Arnold? Sources think it might have. After trekking to the North Pole last April, Arnold decided to reposition his 25-year-old company. Formerly known as The Arnold Group, Dan and Annie Arnold are partnering with longtime employee and friend Tom Ostrom to form Arnold/Ostrom Advertising. Although Arnold's journey probably didn't cause him to reposition his company, he does credit his outdoor adventures with giving him a fresh perspective upon returning to work. Since its inception in 1976, the Arnolds have grown their design shop into a full-service ad agency which serves a wide variety of clients, including Landscape Structures, Miracle Ear, Travelers Express and Hunter Douglas.

 


 

John Johnston JOHN JOHNSTON, MELISSA CAPUANO

Rochester NY: Catalyst Direct promotes John Johnston and Melissa Capuano to the positions of assistant art director and creative services coordinator, respectively. As the new assistant art director, Johnston collaborates with Catalyst's design team on projects for clients such as Eastman Kodak Company Digital and Applied Imaging division, Capital One and Catalyst Direct corporate communications. Since being raised to the position of creative services coordinator, Capuano is responsible for the management of day-to-day creative deliverables and acts as the creative and account liaison. Catalyst Direct is a vertically integrated, full-service direct marketing agency specializing in knowledge-based solutions designed to acquire, retain and maximize customer relationships for its clients. The agency services clients such as Bank of America, The Chase Manhattan Bank, Eckerd Corporation and Xerox Engineering Systems, among others.

 


 

Eric Smith ERIC SMITH

New York NY: ATTIK, the brand communications company, names oft-honored designer Eric Smith as design director in the New York studio. In the post, Smith concentrates on broadcast and branding-related projects and pursues live-action direction assignments. In addition, he works with the design staff to ensure that the quality and levels of design are of the highest standard. Smith comes to ATTIK from Imaginary Forces, where, as an art director for the last four years, he worked with entertainment industry clients designing title sequences for directors such as John Sayles (Men with Guns), Peter Weir (The Truman Show), Martin Campbell (The Mask of Zorro), Neil Labute (Nurse Betty) and an animated film logo for Oprah Winfrey (Harpo Films). Smith also worked on numerous commercials for Gap, Microsoft, Cadillac, Motorola, and most recently co-directed the redesign of the Lifetime Television Network.

 


 

SCOTT A. DAVIS

New York NY: Scott A. Davis is the newest art director at FSB, Fortune Small Business Magazine. His resume includes seven years at Money magazine, five of which he spent as the deputy art director, and senior design positions at Time and Who Weekly magazines. Davis began his career doing advertising promotions for McGraw Hill's professional and reference division. His work has been recognized by SPD, the Society of Publication Designers.

 


 

ALAN LOPUSZYNSKI

Carnegie PA: Alan Lopuszynski rises at Bradley Brown Design Group. His new duties include the coordination of print communication pieces from the point of initial client contact through design and production. Additionally he provides concept development and copywriting services for client marketing projects. Before his employment at Bradley Brown, Lopuszynski worked as a screenplay writer and served as director of development for a feature film production company at Warner Bros. Studios. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in television/ radio/film production from Syracuse University.

 


 

JON WINK

Columbus OH: The multi-city VIA design firm welcomes Jon Wink to its Columbus studio as strategic director. In this role, Wink leads strategy for all projects, manages client relationships and supports new business activities. He also helps manage the growth of VIA's Columbus studio. Wink joins VIA after 13 years of experience in integrated advertising, marketing and strategic planning for a variety of B-to-B and retail clients. Most recently he labored for Out of the Box Integrated Advertising. As a graduate of Ohio State University School of Communication, Wink is a frequent lecturer on the topics of internet development, e-commerce and branding.

 


 

Lloyd Bandonillo LLOYD BANDONILLO, GENO HERNANDEZ, ANDREW ALEXANDER, BETH TAVARES

Woodland Hills CA: The DuPuis Group sharpens its creative edge with four new staff members. Lloyd Bandonillo, illustrator, previously held the post of designer/illustrator at Dellorco Design. Geno Hernandez, designer, is a recent graduate of the University of Houston. He holds a BFA in graphic communications. Andrew Alexander, web developer, has headed programming departments at two different merchant banks, and brings a wealth of knowledge in HTML Code, DHTML, Microsoft Active Server Pages, CGI, Perl, SQL, Flash 4.0 scripting and JavaScript. Beth Tavares, senior designer, joins DuPuis' Chicago office from Marketing Drive Chicago, where she was involved in all aspects of design and print production, from strategic planning through production supervision.

 


 

JENNIFER MEINDERS

Boston MA: Jennifer Meinders joins Arnold Worldwide as art director. In this position she handles the American Legacy Foundation and Monster.com accounts. Prior to coming to Arnold, Meinders was an art director at DDB, New York. She is a graduate of the University of Miami and of the VCU, Ad Center.

 


 

ED BENNETT

Minneapolis MN: Colle+McVoy announces the arrival of Ed Bennett as the agency's new group creative director of design and interactive. Bennett comes to Colle+McVoy from Bennett Design Co., the firm he established in 1997. He is also a co-founder of Surtsey, Inc., a web site development shop. Bennett's expertise with corporate and brand identity, as well as interactive, will maximize the firm's ability to draw on the benefits and power of design. "Ed is a tremendous addition to the Colle+McVoy creative team," says John Jarvis, chief creative officer. "His innovative sense of print and internet design will allow us to offer our clients best-of-class design across any assignment." Bennett has worked with clients from small local companies to international corporations.

 


 

JENNIFER ADAMS

Seattle WA: Hornall Anderson Design Works acquires a new director of brand strategy. As director, Jennifer Adams is responsible for the development of brand strategy tools and methodologies for existing and emerging clients. She brings with her a breadth and depth of experience stemming from extensive brand development and category creation work with regional and Fortune 100 enterprises. Before joining Hornall Anderson, Adams served as a partner and director of the Live Channels Strategy Group for Ogilvy in New York.

 


 

CAROL FUSARO

Boston MA: Sullivan Creative names Carol Fusaro vice president. Fusaro has been a marketing communications consultant with the firm since June 2000. Her industry experience includes work with e-commerce, technology, environmental consulting, and professional service companies. Additionally, she has designed branding and promotional campaigns for startup companies as well as established consulting firms. She is a graduate of Northeastern University. New York NY: Enterprise IG, the world's largest brand and identity consultancy, accelerates the development of its global network with one promotion and a new hire. Ron Cappello, formerly president of Enterprise IG New York, moves up the ranks to become president worldwide, while Scott Lerman, formerly president of Siegelgale, takes over as president of Enterprise IG. KATYA SCHULTZ, ROBERT DECKER

New York NY: Full-service graphic design firm Decker Design has named Katya Schultz senior designer and Robert Decker director of operations and client services. With previous positions at Mizrahi Design Associates, Watt, Roop & Company, and The George Washington University, Schultz brings extensive corporate communications experience in a variety of media, including print, interactive and web. Initial projects include Mutual of America's annual report and a comprehensive awareness campaign for SG Cowen Asset Management that encompasses an announcement piece, corporate brochure, and electronic teaser series distributed via e-mail. In his new position, Robert Decker will oversee day-to-day operations of Decker Design and manage account service initiatives directed toward existing clients. He garnered operational experience at Loews Cineplex Entertainment.

Madison WI: Pike Design announces new partners and a new name, Pike+Company. The 15-year-old strategic design and marketing communications agency is based in Madison, WI. The name reflects the addition of services in recent years, including market analysis, brand review, competitive analysis and integrated marketing communications. The new partners include president Candace Anderson, vice president of marketing Tom Etling, art director Ann Edmunds and senior designer Todd Brei. Edmunds and Brei have also been promoted to vice presidents of creative services. Pike chairman, Bob Pike, is confident that the new name and partnership additions will further position the agency as an industry leader. "Our new name and expanded service offerings will allow us to continue to anticipate our clients' business needs. The additions of Candace, Tom, Ann, and Todd as partners will give us the continuity in leadership that we need as we look to the future."

New York NY: Earle Palmer Brown adds Anthony Marchesani as senior art director. Before being recruited by EPB, Marchesani spent ten years at Young & Rubicam, where he worked on new business along with the Ericsson, Sony and AT&T accounts. Earle Palmer Brown, a part of Panoramic Communications, is one of the largest independent marketing communications companies, with capitalized billings of $400 million. Founded in 1952, the agency serves a roster of clients that includes Blue Cross Blue Shield, DuPont, IBM, The U.S. Mint, and Revlon.

Boston MA: Kevin Dailor returns to Arnold Worldwide as art director. Previously, he worked at Saatchi & Saatchi/San Francisco. He is a graduate of The Portfolio Center in Atlanta.

Eugene OR: Funk & Associates hires Lada Korol as production assistant. Previously an intern with the firm, Korol's experience varies from web design and trade show materials to advertising and collateral items. She holds a BFA in graphic design from Oregon State University.

 


 

JOHN WARNOCK

San Jose CA: Adobe co-founder John Warnock has resigned as chief technology officer, effective immediately, of the software company. He had taken the technology post after stepping down as CEO and turning the reigns over to Bruce Chizen. Warnock was honored with a tremendously warm ovation when he spoke at last month's Seybold Conference in Boston. He has agreed to continue on as co-chair of the board, along with Adobe's other co-founder, Chuck Geschke. Needless to say, the company, more than almost any other, has helped pioneer the desktop and design revolution with its array of industry standard software applications. It is now one of the top three software companies based in the U.S.

 


 

SUSEN SAWATZKI

Salt Lake City UT: Susen Sawatzki, publisher of adnews magazine, was honored at a fancy gala as the Young Professional of the Year. The award was invented last year by the Utah Advertising Federation in order to honor professionals in the industry in the prime of a career as opposed to the lifetime achievement award that comes with the Silver Medal Award given by the Utah Advertising Federation for the past ninety some years. Sawatzki is entering her nineteenth year of publishing adnews a now every-other- month publication covering the advertising and marketing industry.

 


 

Theodore Flinn THEODORE FLINN, LYNN BERNI, AUDRA REYMAN

Greenwich CT: To fulfill project assignments from several new clients, Berni Marketing & Design has added two senior staff and made a key promotion. Theodore Flinn comes over after stints at Merrill Lynch and Chase Manhattan to become a branding specialist. He is responsible for identifying underperforming brands that would directly benefit from Berni's services. Flinn has an MBA from Fordham. Meanwhile, Lynn Berni has been promoted to manager of design services, and represents the third generation of the family in the enterprise founded in 1938 in New York City. A Cornell graduate, she also manages the IT function for the firm. And Audra Reyman has been named a client coordinator. She was previously in retail management with the Cherry Webb and Ann Taylor stores in Greenwich CT. The design firm specializes in brand building and development, packaging and graphics, visual merchandising and retail graphics.

 


 

MIKE CHADWICK

Hudson NH: Presstek, a leading provider of digital laser imaging technology and an advocate for digital printing for graphic designers, has named Mike Chadwick as DI product manager. Chadwick, formerly of CreoScitex, will help manage current DI customer and partner products as well as promote Presstek's DI capabilities to press manufacturers worldwide.
