MINDY CHANDLER
Boston MA: Gearon Hoffman Advertising names Mindy Chandler as art director. According to Bob Hoffman, president of the advertising and marketing agency, Chandler will work on a variety of the agency's accounts. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon and a master's degree from the VCU Ad Center. With nearly $70 million in billings, Gearon Hoffman's roster of clients includes Grolsch Beer, The Brown & Company discount brokerage division of Chase, Boston's Museum of Science, Tufts Health Plan, Seagram, Capital Crossing Bank, WebCT and The Writings of Mary Baker Eddy.
JERRY GENNARIA
St. Louis MO: Paradowski Graphic Design, a leading St. Louis-based graphic design firm, adds Jerry Gennaria to its design team. In his new position as graphic designer, Gennaria is responsible for concepting, creating and producing a variety of identity, advertising, brochures and other visual communication pieces for the firm's clients. Prior to joining Paradowski, Gennaria was an art director and design department manager at Xerox Corporation. While at Xerox, he managed a five-person graphics team for Monsanto with duties including workflow management, art direction, graphic design and production, customer contact, vendor management, and project management.

Burlington VT: Lisaius Marketing promotes Peter Stark to design manager. "Peter has a distinguished and varied design background," said Joseph Lisaius. Stark has been a senior designer at the firm for two years and, prior to settling in Vermont, he worked as senior designer for USA Networks in New York.
RAY VOLPE
Indianapolis IN: Ray Volpe assumes the newly created role of director, project management and administration at The Design Group. This position underlines the firm's proactive effort to enhance client relationships and efficiency, says president Barry Doss, who adds, "Ray Volpe is the ideal person to help us implement this strategy, and there are very few people on our staff who know our clients and culture better than he does." Volpe began at the firm more than 20 years ago as a student intern attending Butler University. After graduation, he joined The Design Group's staff for two years, moving to Countrymark Co-op as manager of corporate communications, and later operated his own marketing and communications business. He returned in 1998.

Manhasset NY: Gene Fedele is promoted to vice president/ design director for the Technology Solutions Group at CMP Media. A 13-year veteran of the business, Fedele has designed a number of start-up print and electronic products in addition to redesigning many of CMP's existing offerings. He has also been the recipient of more than 150 design awards from various institutions. CMP Media is a leading high-tech media company which owns newspapers, magazines, internet products, research, direct marketing services, and trade shows. Before joining the company, he was an art editor at Reader's Digest, where he was in charge of the magazine's covers and helped direct the design of the U.S. and international editions.

Louisville KY: PriceWeber ups Marta Madrigal Garcia to associate creative director. Her duties include the day-to-day creative management of the agency's Brown-Forman account. Garcia has been with PriceWeber for seven years as an art director and is credited with defining and building various brands of wine as well as products in the trucking industry. The 32-year-old agency touts its BrandMania process which "makes people crazy for your brand."

Seattle WA: Methodologie, a 50-person national design firm whose clients include Microsoft, Safeco, Primus and Immunex, makes two creative personnel moves. Daniele Monti has been promoted to creative director and Candi Nicholson is a new hire with the title of vice president, graphic design.

Burlington VT: Jager Di Paola Kemp Design welcomes three professionals. Benjamin Niles signs on as a design director, overseeing art direction and design work for print, broadcast, and the web, as well as directing design teams and participating in brand creative strategy. He has more than 13 years of design experience, most recently as senior art director/designer at Atlantic Records. Niles holds a graphic design degree from the University of Georgia. Eric Courtemanche enters as a co-design director. Most recently, he was the founder and principal of Fever, a small San Francisco studio; he has also been associate design director of Wired. Courtemanche graduated from Maine College of Art. Last but not least, Marin Horikawa comes aboard as a designer responsible for developing solutions in the areas of advertising, packaging, merchandising and catalogs. He is a graduate of the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.

Boston MA: Arnold Worldwide ups its numbers with four new hires. Michael Gatti and Mike Moynihan come aboard as art directors, with Gatti working on the firm's Volkswagen account and Moynihan assigned to the McDonald's account. Gatti is a graduate of The Portfolio Center in Atlanta, Moynihan of Notre Dame. Prior to being named to her new post as creative business manager, Jane DiGange worked for five years at September Productions. She is a graduate of Boston College. And Roy Wetherbee is a new technical manager on the Volkswagen interactive account.

Cincinnati OH: Libby Perszyk Kathman raises Wendy Adams to senior production director. Adams joined LPK's production services department three years ago as production artist and then production director on print projects for Pantene and Bounty. In her new role, she expands her production management responsibilities to include development and refinement of LPK's print production process and implementation standards. She holds a graphic design degree from University of Cincinnati.

Kirkland WA: ImageX.com welcomes Tim Dowling to the senior management team as vice president of marketing. Dowling's background includes 13 years at Intel Corporation where he was responsible for leading numerous initiatives to expand the company's business, including establishing an e-commerce strategy for Intel Online Services, creating Intel's internet consumer web strategy and developing an audio and video communication program to make A/V communication pervasive on the PC platform. "Tim has a world-class marketing and overall business background, and we are extremely pleased to have him join our management team," said Rich Begert, president and ceo, ImageX.com. Fairfield NJ: Cow-abunga! Michael Adams is now vice president, creative director at Virgo Communications. He has among his credits creation of Cow Corps, sort of a corporate version of the Cow Parade mania that puts decorated fiberglass cows all over the place. Adams asserts that cow mania began back in 1990 when his marketing company was asked to create a display for the M&Ms company, and he dreamed up a life-size fiberglass cow covered with 66,000 M&M candies. "What's missing in the Cow Parade concept," says Adams, milking the moment, "is a serious blueprint for corporate participation, or for corporations to have ownership of cow-related publicity..."

Avon CT: Martino & Binzer hires Dawn Llaser as senior art director. Llasers' experience includes 11 years of graphic design work in advertising agencies, most recently Keiler & Company, plus seven years of freelance design work. "Dawn's creative talents and immediate ability to assist clients greatly enhances our team," says Gavin Binzer, executive vice president of Martino & Binzer. Llaser holds a BFA from the University of Hartford/Hartford Art School. Martino & Binzer serves a diverse clientele including Lucent, Loctite, American Saw, and AMS Services.

Washington DC: John Bell brings more than 15 years of design experience to his new role as creative director, senior vice president of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Washington. Bell replaces Beth Ruoff, who was recently promoted to network creative director for Ogilvy PR's U.S. operations. Bell will play what is described as "a strategic role" in the future of the 38-person Washington, DC-based creative department which services the entire network of U.S. offices with design and production, media placement and advertising, copywriting, broadcast services and production, and interactive development and promotion. Bell was previously a vp of HiFusion, launching an online learning service for children K-12, and creative director at Discovery.com, where he developed a network of 14 internet services. He had stints at AT&T Interactive Television and Media Circus Interactive Advertising.

Edina MN: The International Prepress Association names Steve Bonoff president. The IPA board of directors is looking to Bonoff to define who the next-generation members will be and to carry on the industry leadership displayed by predecessor Hank Hatch. As president, Bonoff will direct and coordinate all services and programs, and will work to promote the IPA and its membership. Noting the challenges facing the prepress sector, Bonoff comments: "I am excited about the opportunity IPA has to help its members grow and develop new markets. Our members are redefining who they are, what products and services they will deliver, which technologies warrant investment, and how to gauge the impact of rapid change on their businesses. IPA will be at the forefront — providing members with the information they need to successfully transform their businesses."

Minneapolis MN: Arnold/Ostrom Advertising member Dan Sheehan returns to the creative team. Sheehan worked for the previous incarnation of the agency (The Arnold Group) from 1990 to 1999 and now comes back as associate creative director. Arnold/Ostrom Advertising is a Minnesota-based advertising agency, serving regional to international clients since 1976. Their mantra: "Creative with Accountability."

Syracuse NY: Sage Marcom hires Joe Quinn as associate creative director of advertising. Quinn's duties include strategizing and concepting advertising initiatives for Sage's clients. Prior to his new position at Sage, Quinn worked for six years at Mark Russell and Associates as a senior-level art director. His work has received national recognition from Adweek, the Syracuse AdClub with a "Best of Show" award, and the Business Marketing Association Pro-Comm Awards. Quinn holds a BA in communication design from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

WIN provides corporate brand development, web site and interactive design, media and marketing solutions and consulting for new business and e-business. GINI KRAMER, JAMES PAYNE
Farmington CT: Keiler & Company elevates Gini Kramer and James Payne to the top creative posts, respectively, of executive creative director and creative director of interactive design. Kramer joined the agency in 1979 as a copywriter and returned in 1997 assuming the role of associate creative director. In between she ran a freelance copywriting business, Copy Commando, and was a principal of Quirk & Kramer Advertising. Payne came to the agency in 1998 as associate creative director in the newly-formed interactive group. He was previously an art director in one of Chicago's largest business-to-business agencies, where he formed its interactive division and became director of new media. "Each of these creative managers has shown the special talent it takes to lead, inspire and direct others in the pursuit of the best creative solutions for our clients," says managing partner Mel Maffei.

Venice CA: Digital Deviants, the web design and multimedia communications firm, names David Cullipher president. Cullipher has been chief technology officer since the company's founding in early 1999. "David was meant for this job," says ceo Steve Levine. "Not only does he have an unsurpassed background in software technology, but he also has the creativity and leadership necessary to grow our company in this evolving industry." In his new role, Cullipher is responsible for forging new strategic partnerships and affiliations, growing the business, overseeing client projects, and developing and coordinating client relationships.
