Pregnancy, birth, child-rearing - it's hard work. These print ads for blis, a breast leakage inhibitor system, sympathizes with the challenges of motherhood. Crafted by Clarke Goward for Prolac Inc., the campaign is currently running in a variety of consumer magazines. Credits go to creative director Jim Amadeo and art directors Frank Lopresti and Chris Pinkham. Pinkham also served as illustrator.

Fashion designer Noriko Maeda is virtually a household name in Japan, and aspires to the same in America. To that end, Valentine Group designer Robert Valentine has revamped the identity of Maeda's New York City boutique, which features tailored suits, eveningwear and women's accessories that blend Eastern and Western influences. The "elegant, upscale" results are printed on Mohawk Superfine.
BRIGHTON, UK
CD artwork for the release of Catalan garage/surf band Las Perras Del Infierno's "Somas Las Perras" is a deliberate homage to the early 80s alternative New York scene, a strong influence on the music. Red Design, a Brighton-based graphic design partnership, executed the project for the Rise Robots Rise label. Ed Templeton and Hamish Makgill are the design principals.

To promote Hapap Sushi, three Asian Fusion restaurants in Denver and Boulder, newspaper, magazine and outdoor advertising designed by TDA Advertising & Design focuses on "unexpected variations of 'Japanese.'" Forget about TVs or video games when families vacation in the splendid outdoors, where Thule car rack systems matter. That's the message of this print campaign by Boulder's TDA Advertising & Design. The ads are currently running in Sports Illustrated, Outside, Men's Health and other publications. Thomas Dooley is the art director, and Jonathan Schoenberg the creative director and copywriter.
CHAPEL HILL, NC
A direct mail fact sheet, combined with a CD of relaxing local sounds, aims to lure vacationers and home buyers to Bald Head Island, a resort community in North Carolina's Barrier Islands. The sounds include a ferry landing, footsteps on a lighthouse stairs, the lapping surf and a swinging porch swing. A printed slip-in offers low-cost stays, a real estate tour and a response card. 20,000 pieces are being mailed this fall, with an additional 1,000 offered for sale in gift shops. Credit goes to The Republik ad agency, creative director Robert Shaw West, art director Scott Pridgen and copywriter Francis George.

The Kuhlmann Leavitt design firm used a unique lenticular cover to capture a sense of action and glamour for the The Ameristar Casinos 2002 Annual Report. The piece, designed by Deanna Kuhlman-Leavitt, photographed by Gregg Goldman Photography and written by Penny Benda, succeeded in capturing the attention of judges at the prestigious Black Book AR100 Award Show, taking Best of Show, as well as Best Printed, Top 10 Designed, Top 10 Photographed, Top 10 Typography and Top 10 Printed.

"Designer by Day . . ." is a steamy and stunning campaign for the designer-friendly software company Corel. The aim: "to ignite creative fires." Print advertisements meld seductive photography, professional models and strategically placed tattoos (devil, angel, mermaid) to lead the audience to web sites that profile creative tools for graphic communication. Credits to Corel's internal creative agency, with John Leblanc as art director, Teresa Chiykowski as copywriter and Daniel Weisbeck as global marketing director.
