This special company publishes a comprehensive selection of layered and fully editable royalty free stock maps in Adobe Illustrator format. Created for graphic designers and available 24/7 online, offerings include world maps, globes, country, U.S. state and city maps. The company recently released a new set of tabloid size, high resolution maps of U.S. states, especially useful for the upcoming political season. Mary Evans Picture Library
2004 sees Mary Evans Picture Library celebrating its 40th anniversary. The library is a widely-used source of historical images that began life in 1964 as a handful of picture files put together by Mary and Hilary Evans as a result of a lifelong passion for collecting pictures. Since that time, the collection has grown immeasurably to encompass material depicting scenes and events from the dawn of time to the later decades of the 20th century and in media ranging from photographs to illustrations to maps to cartoons. Now the 140,000-odd images on their searchable website can be ordered as high res scans, often for immediate download. Mary Evans Picture Library remains a family business; the daughter of the founders, Valentine Ward Evans, joined the company in 1992 and has recently taken over as managing director.
