"Cut the emissions. Sign the petition." That's the message this paid marketing campaign supporting the McCain/ Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act drives home, courtesy of Green Team for the client Environmental Defense. The advertising appears in influential newspapers and magazines, as well as on the internet. Direct mail is part of the program, as is related collateral like t-shirts and condom wrappers, which are being distributed on college campuses.

The publishing arm of the legendary Pentagram design firm has released several new titles that are fascinating in their own right, while also serving as a nice self-promotion. No Waste (Pentagram Papers 32) documents "objects of necessity" from Cuba: handmade or homemade objects designed to meet basic needs and desires. As the authors point out, such objects have proliferated since the the onset of economic troubles in Cuba during the late 1970s. The book is a project of Laboratorio de Creación Maldeojo, a creative cooperative in Havana, Cuba. A second favorite of ours: Pentagram Marks, an ode to the value of logos ("to be anonymous in a competitive world is to be dead") and a showcase of the many logos the firm has developed for clients.
