Chicago IL: The AIGA/Chicago Chapter has awarded
Rick Valicenti the prestigious AIGA Fellow Award, acknowledging
his influence on design, contributions to the community
and overall lifetime achievement. The founder and head
of Thirst commented, "Being awarded this honor
is not a result of anything I did alone, but rather
evidence of relationships which have contributed to
design's discourse and Chicago's archive." A former
president of the Society of Typographic Art (now the
American Center for Design), a board member of AIGA/Chicago,
a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and
a juror for the National Endowment for the Arts' Presidential
Design Awards, Valicenti has twice been nominated for
the Chrysler Design Awards. He has had gallery shows
in Osaka and Tokyo, and selected Thirst works are included
in the permanent collection of The Cooper-Hewitt National
Design Museum. Clients include Gilbert Paper, Herman
Miller, Holly Hunt, The Monacelli Press and the Illinois
Institute of Technology's College of Architecture.

Zapien now oversees the creative department, from strategic

for the firm's clients. Zapien received her BA in graphic
design from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara,
Mexico, and is experienced in illustration and design
for print, web and packaging.

strategy and design firm, appoints Jennifer Boldrini
to manager of brand strategy. Boldrini comes to Addis
having managed strategy and creative assignments with
such clients as Wells Fargo, Nissan and Verizon. Before
that she was a project manager at Gravity Branding,
and has also had a great deal of online experience,
having managed web development and online advertising
projects for Agency.com and Unexplored, Inc. Boldrini
holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and
the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Pasadena CA: The Society for Environmental Graphic
Design recently honored Wayne Hunt as an SEGD Fellow
for 2004. The Society's board presents the annual award
to distinguished individuals who have made extraordinary
contributions to the organization and the profession.
Hunt founded Hunt Design Associates, a design firm specializing
in identity, signage and environmental graphic design
programs, in 1977. He is on the faculty of Art Center
College of Design, and has written several articles
and books on the subject of graphic design's role in
architectural environments.

Fort Lauderdale FL: Linda Donahue is tapped for
the newly created position of group associate creative
director at Starmark International. With 15 years of
primarily travel-focused experience, Donahue is concentrating
her efforts within Starmark's Hospitality Group. She
has worked with Cunard developing direct mail initiatives
and brochures, and was awarded a 2003 ADDY in recognition
of a direct mail piece she created for the Queen Mary
2.

Cherry Hill NJ: The STAR Group names Tracy Donofry
as a managing partner. Already a creative director and
senior vice president Donofry is a 15-year veteran of
the marketing communications firm. She will continue
to supervise client campaigns and handle all facets
of creative development. Her account experience is extensive,
covering a diverse spectrum of industries, with clients
such as Aramark, NJ Lottery and Coca-Cola Promotions.

Boston MA: Philip Johnson Associates adds Douglas
Parrish as a junior art director. In this position he
is working on a variety of the agency's accounts. Parrish
spent a year and a half with Galyan's Trading Company.
He has a BFA in graphic design from the Rochester Institute
of Technology.

Minneapolis MN: "Believe that beauty can change
the world." That is the mantra of the Thebe Street
design firm, which has added two new employees to the
quest. Marketing manager Christy DeSmith is focusing
on marketing and business development, while Erin Payne
takes on the writing responsibilities associated with
an increasingly heavy client workload. DeSmith has over
seven years of experience in advertising and marketing,
including stints at Martin/Williams, Theatre de la Jeune
Lune and Fairview Health Services. Payne joins the staff
from her East Coast home office in Rhode Island. Payne
worked for Thebe Street for six years before relocating
with her family. Before rejoining the firm she worked
at the Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration.

Thea Nelson and William Raaum.

Albuquerque NM: Kilmer & Kilmer Brand Consultants
taps Dean Burnett to be media director. He has 20 years'
experience in the New Mexico media market working for
clients such as Little Caesars Pizza, Applebees, KLUZ-TV,
Rio Grande Air and Blimpie Subs. The design firm's clients
include the New Mexico Lottery, First Financial Credit
Union, Target, Marshall Field's, PNM and more.

New York NY: Ken Haller joins Decker Design as
an interactive designer. Haller will implement and manage
design of an online annual report for Mutual of America.
He holds a MA in interactive telecommunications from
NYU, and brings a unique skill set to the firm, including
experience in video editing. Lynda Decker heads the
full service design firm.

New York NY: Interbrand Wood Healthcare appoints
Mark Goldstone as president of the global marketing
organization. Goldstone now manages and develops the
company's business across a network of nine offices
in five countries. He was most recently coo and business
director of Euro RSCG, the healthcare communications
group of Havas. Over the last 15 years Goldstone has
worked in a number of leadership roles for Euro RSCG
on a wide variety of brands. He originally trained as
a pharmacist, but turned to advertising at The General
Advertising Company and subsequently at WCRS in London.

Ewing NJ: Tom McManimon, formerly a partner and
executive creative director at Gillespie Advertising,
as well as an art director with Bozell, has launched
his own company. Stimulus Brand Communications prides
itself on "sound strategic planning that leads
to impactful and meaningful advertising and design solutions."
The client roster already includes American Re-Insurance,
St. Francis Medical Center and New Jersey Public Television
& Radio.

Sioux City IA: J.D. Gordon Design has hired Sarah
Conley as a graphic designer. Conley is a recent graduate
of Western Iowa Tech's digital media program. Previously
she interned at both the Sioux City Art Center and Bass,
the Agency. Her studies included fine arts programs
at Iowa State University and the University of Southern
Florida. Conley won Best of Show, Student Division,
at the 2004 Sioux City Ad Fed Addy Awards, as well as
awards in 2003.

Louisville KY: Developware, Inc., has announced
the addition of April McCormick as sales director. McCormick
graduated from Indiana University with a BS in marketing,
and brings six years of sales and management experience
to Developware. Developware was founded to create and
market real-time workflow, budget and accountability-management
applications and systems for project-centered businesses.
The company currently handles numerous clients from
Arizona to Mozambique.

New York NY: The former director of new product
development at Seagram NY, Sam Elias, is heading up
the newly opened New York studio of the London-based
design firm Pearlfisher. The company already has a strong
U.S. business base, with clients including Coca-Cola,
Unilever, Jose Cuervo, Pfizer, SAB Miller and Balducci's.
In London the company has a staff of 41.
doug whittle, heidi gray, mark ledgerwood, victor

Cincinnati OH: Libby Perszyk Kathman, the largest
employee-owned design consultancy in the U.S., hires
Doug Whittle as production director, Heidi Gray as design
delineator and Mark Ledgerwood as design director. It
also promotes Victor Jantzen to a design director position.
Jantzen is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of
Design; in his new role he leads the design effort on
a variety of consumer brands. Whittle, previously with
Fisher Design, is a graduate of Northern Campbell State
Technical, where he earned a degree in commercial art.
Gray, previously with Marsh, is a graduate of Northern
Kentucky Technical College, and holds a degree in visual
communication art. Ledgerwood is an alumnus of Memphis
College of Art, where he earned a graphic design degree

Bennington NH: Laurel Zeck's appointment as a sales
representative for Monadnock Paper Mills allows the
company to better service sales opportunities in the
Ohio River Valley states, Michigan and western Pennsylvania.
Zeck has 13 years' experience in the paper industry,
having served with Georgia Pacific, Web Source, Champion
and, for the last six years, with Scheufelen North America.
She has performed customer service and sales specification
roles with her former companies, and is highly knowledgeable
in sales and promotion of premium papers. She is a resource
to merchants, printers, graphic designers and corporate
