Locals Firms Bury BoNE Competition
Two New England firms and a Massachusetts College of Art student took top honors
as the Judge's Picks at the 10th Annual Best of New England (BoNE) Show sponsored
by AIGA/Boston. Concord firm GUM won for a self-promotional piece. Prank Design
from Allston MA was honored for Freedom is a Dream, a book for client Be Free
Press. Other top picks not shown: a Civil War poster by Burlington's White Rhino
Productions, created for their client, History Shots, and a discrimination poster
by student Lisa Kurth. A mini-catalog designed by Sentient Design captures all
the winners.
Just Grow It
National Television developed this attention-grabbing 30-second spot,
"Free Nature," for Nike. National was asked to build visual
connections between muscles, vines, circulatory systems and other natural
elements, and they did so by evoking a Garden of Eden, a fresh amalgamation
of realism and fantasy. "Starting from a seed, we wanted to see the shoes
actually grow," explains National's design director Chris Dooley. The spot,
now running in Niketown and Nike Women stores, was produced directly for Nike's
inhouse creative team.
Parham-Santana Right On Target
Parham-Santana's Valentines 2005 Style Guide provided seasonal proprietary
trend direction for Target Corporation. The final graphic elements were
documented into style guides for use by Target and its vendors to create
both hardline and softline products in multiple product categories for
women and girls as well as for men and boys.
