The Touchard residence before the storm ...and after

We prevailed on graphic designer Matt Touchard, long a GDUSA favorite, to allow us to publish excerpts of a letter he wrote to friends during the cataclysmic days immediately following Hurricane Katrina. While Matt, himself, and his home just west of New Orleans in Reserve, Louisiana, survived — barely — there was still no phone service, electricity, water, cell service, mail, banks, stores, gas or electricity as of this writing. His successful studio, located in a hard-hit part of downtown New Orleans, is a total loss. Matt estimates that 90% of his work, records and clients are gone — including three meaningful projects in progress. He looks to rebuild because, as he says, "without a history, one simply has no future."
