Smith is past president of the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts and AIGA Cincinnati and worked at marchFIRST, LPK, RPA and more.
Ben Mallory, newly minted creative director at SFGT, leads the creative development and prototyping of digital products at the Philadelphia firm. Mallory is formerly at a senior art director at Digitas and art director America Online.
Patty Henderson gives up her Target discount card to become director, interactive department, at Colle+McVoy in Minneapolis. She held positions at Juut Salonspas and Target Financial Services, among others. Chris Henderson joins the agency as interactive creative director. He was an executive creative director at Olson, where he built the interactive department and developed award-winning work.
Quark appoints Raymond Schiavone as president and CEO. Schiavone previously held positions at Arbortext and TPN Register and was a long time GE'er. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Syracuse University.
Tim Lund is named director of creative production at Masterfile. He previously held positions at Getty Images, Digital Vision and VCG. Lund is responsible include directing the company's image production teams in D¸sseldorf and Toronto. Masterfile is reportedly investing millions towards creating images for local markets in major international centers.
The co-founder and former design director of Lodge Design, the entrepreneurial Eric Kass just started Funnel : Eric Kass : Utilitarian + Commercial + Fine : Art. He has also launched Funnel Paper Goods, a line of custom designed fine paper products. Kass resides in Indianapolis IN.
Matt Baxter is now vice president, multi-platform marketing, at Big Fish. The job at the L.A.-based entertainment industry brand and advertising agency involves managing select programs and developing technology and business strategies. Baxter comes from MTV News and, before that, CBS Digital Media.
David Shepherd is named design director at LPK. He holds a degree from the University of Cincinnati and is working on a variety of brands.
Jerome Kathman becomes a member of the board of the Design Management Institute. President of LPK, he will be the featured speaker at DMI's 11th European Design Management Conference in Copenhagen next month.
