Vermillion, Inc., appoints Christine J. Erna to the newly created post of executive vice president of mailing/fulfillment services. Erna is certainly qualified. She spent 18 years as a mail piece design analyst for the U.S. Postal Service and also spent time at Mailing Solutions, Inc. Vermillion is a marketing communications firm based in Derry NH.

Hans Kellogg, an assistant professor in the graphic arts management program at Ball State University (Muncie IN), just received the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation Educator of the Year Award. The award recognizes excellence in educational instruction for graphic communications and printing.

John M. Rainey joins Substance151 as vice president of business development. The University of Baltimore grad brings over 15 years of experience to the post, including stints at WMAR, U.S. Mortgageshop and The Canton Group. Substance151 is based in Baltimore MD.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative has a new president and CEO. Kathy Abusow comes to the post from Abusow International, a forest certification consultancy which she founded and where she spent the previous 15 years.

The Bridgeman Art Library has revamped its top management. Pandora Mather Lees and Victoria Bridgeman are promoted to managing director from deputy managing director and head of special projects, respectively. And Edward Whitley, formerly manager of Bridgemans New York office, is elevated to president of Bridgeman Art Library International. All three were also made company directors. Finally, Harriet Bridgeman, the company's founder, takes on a new role: executive chairperson.

Akeo Sawayama is the newly-appointed president and CEO of Yupo Corporation America. Sawayama joins the Chesapeake VA-based synthetic paper manufacturer from its parent company, Yupo Corporation in Tokyo, where he worked for over 30 years.

Lancaster PA-based firm Cimbrian added two fresh faces to its technology and marketing communications team. Kristen M. Jenkins, formerly of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts and Dutch Wonderland, is named a public relations account executive. A. Ryan Martin joins Cimbrian as a design account executive. In addition to developing design accounts, Martin will work as a designer on the company's creative team.

Grant Design Collaborative welcomes Greg Sykes as the Canton GA firms newest designer. The American Intercontinental University Graduate sits on the advisory board their visual communications program and is an active member of AIGA.

Paper industry veteran Oakie Salleewas elected to the SMART Papers Board of Directors. Sallee, a former Fox River Paper and Simpson Paper exec, is recognized for developing several well-known uncoated premium paper brands in the U.S. SMART Papers is based in Hamilton OH.

Jonathan Asher joins Sterling Brands of New York City as an executive vice president. He is in charge of overseeing client services. The Queens College and Baruch College graduate and consumer marketing expert most recently held the post of president of the New York office of Dragon Rouge US.

Debra Malinics, owner of Debra Malinics Advertising, was recently a guest speaker at Gloucester County College of Gloucester NJ. Malinics addressed students enrolled in a course entitled "Start Business Right", which is geared to individuals who want to start new businesses or improve existing ones.

Michael Messemer joins Magjak Graphic Communication Services of Westchester NY as vice president of new media. In that post, the former solution development manager for Xerox will design and implement customized cross-channel marketing communications solutions.
