A Taste For Limited Editions
Aesthetic Apparatus partnered with Charles Andrews and Erik Dunham to develop an identity and packaging concept for their new limited-edition tea company, Andrews & Dunham. “Andrews & Dunham hunts down small batches of really great teas that they enjoy, we produce a set of limited-edition packaging for these teas and when those are gone, we get to start the whole process over again,” said Dan Ibarra, co-founder of Aesthetic Apparatus, a design firm based in Minneapolis MN. The project reflects the feel of the work that first brought Ibarra and partner Michael Byzewski together and then made them well-known in the Twin Cities - designing limited edition screen printed concert posters.

Magazine Designers Assert Print Is Alive
Author Yasushi Fujimoto explores the history and future of magazine design through conversations with 10 designers, resulting in The 10 Influential Creators For Magazine Design, a series of interviews with trade legends who provide a glimpse into the philosophy and design approaches that make their publications the vanguard. Fujimoto is an art director and the head of his own design studio CAP, and has worked for many well-known Japanese magazines including Marie Claire Japon, Vogue Nippon and GQ Japan; he has also directed ad projects for clients such as Louis Vuitton Japan. The book features a range of international stars, such as Southern California’s David Carson and his radical editorial design for Beach Culture and RAYGUN, and French designer Christophe Brunnquell, who has been art director of the fashion and culture magazine Purple since 1993, among others. The book is published by PIE Books and distributed through Rizzoli New York. Contact: www.rizzoliusa.com
