MARIA JANOSKO
The Academy of Art University, San Francisco CA
Maria Janosko is an artist, designer and generally inquisitive person. She was born in Florida,
raised in Pennsylvania, studied in Boston and now resides in California. Before studying
graphic design, Janosko completed an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts at Dickinson College
and then went on to complete a postbacalaureate program in Fine Arts at the School of the
Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
What makes you want to study design? Throughout my studies in fine art I was aware of graphic design but I was constantly advised
by my professors not to study graphic design. Long story short, I needed to find out for myself. It was a general quest for knowledge
that led me to graphic design and I immediately responded to the problem-solving nature of this medium. With art you are more
introspective and really only answer to yourself, but with graphic design you are collaborating with writers, photographers, illustrators
and other designers and ultimately have to answer to the client. It is my love of creating and the challenge of problem-solving
that continues to drive my passion for graphic design.
