Green People: Lifecycles + Lifestyles
LOS ANGELES CA
Lentini Design is known for its creative flair and solid business acumen.
The firm enjoys the challenge of creating unique solutions for their clients’ design needs. They’ve won over 70 national design awards, 10 of them for green-sector clients. Hilary Lentini says that the native American proverb, quoted below, is the inspiration behind the firm’s “We Design with Green in Mind” approach, a 10-point list of green principles that guide sustainable design practices. Some of the “We Design with Green in Mind” guiding principles include: digital proofing and digital files; specifying paper for print projects made from a high percentage of post consumer recycled fiber; specifying soy/vegetable-oil-based inks; using LCD monitors and laptops for lower energy consumption; and donating up to 5% of its profits to eco-friendly organizations.
Some of the many clients Lentini Design has worked with include: Adopt a Charger, Duke Green-Tech, The California Higher Education Sustainability Conference, United States Green Building Council Los Angeles Chapter, Savannah’s Organic Ranch, Gen7 schools, Los Angeles Community College District, The Metropolitan Water District, California Construction Expo, The Alzheimer’s Association Orange County Chapter, The Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation, West Adams Heritage Association, Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Ego Magazine and Angel City Press. Believing that industry and wider business community involvement is as important to sustainability as are green practices, Hilary Lentini is an active member of the National Association of Women Business Owners Los Angeles Chapter, the National Association of Professional Women, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors,
we borrow it from our children”
The “Green in Mind” concept is demonstrated in Lentini Design’s work with Gen7 Schools, whose brand sets the standard in their Green modular schools industry. Gen7 Schools came to us knowing they needed the Greenest project possible. We sourced the highest post-consumer FSC Certified paper (Neenah Environment), soy-based inks, and water-based finishing processes to make their custom die-cut folder as eco-friendly as possible. That project went on to win two national design awards. It has also garnered Lentini Design new clients, who are inspired to create their own versions ‒ all with an eco-friendly process influence.
