THOUGHTS ON THE
STATE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN
I feel positive about the future of design. I see the industry continuing to morph, becoming less about designing artifacts and more about designing experiences. This doesn’t mean the death of craft, but it does mean a re-emphasis on ideas. One trend I’ve experienced in recent years is multiple firms/agencies collaborating and building richer experiences together. This does point to the need to change how we teach and mentor designers, training them to think beyond what’s in front of them to how their ideas live and grow beyond their creation.
