GDUSA New Purchasing Survey: Creatives In Control

A new survey of Graphic Design USA readers confirms that responsibility for and control of the graphic communications process has moved upstream into the hands of the creative community, a prediction that was considered both interesting and wild-eyed 20 years ago. Indeed, the survey results indicate that graphic designers have powerful purchasing influence. And digital technology has permeated the market, becoming ever faster, more flexible and more affordable, the trend is irreversible. Among the examples: 84 percent of designers have influence over computers and workstations, 88 percent over paper and print buying, 87 percent over type and fonts, and 89 percent over software.
